Description

Delicious and easy-to-make frosted sugar cookie bars that are perfect for any occasion, with a soft and chewy texture and creamy frosting.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups butter, softened to room temperature
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 large or extra large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract
  • 6 cups flour, spooned lightly and leveled
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened for frosting
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract for frosting
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk (or more if needed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a half sheet-sized rimmed baking sheet (13x18x1″) with parchment paper or non-stick spray.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then add vanilla and almond extracts.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Press the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking sheet, using parchment paper to smooth it out.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the center is set but not golden brown. Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan.
  6. For the frosting, whip softened butter until light and fluffy, then slowly add powdered sugar, mixing until incorporated. Add almond extract, vanilla extract, and milk until desired consistency is reached.
  7. Once the cookie bars are cool, spread the frosting on top and sprinkle with colored sprinkles if desired. Cut into squares and serve.
