Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips or chunks
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream softened butter with brown sugar and white sugar until fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low until flour streaks remain.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets with a medium cookie scoop, spacing them a few inches apart.
- Press a few extra chocolate chips on top of each dough ball if desired.
- Bake until edges are set and lightly golden while the centers look slightly soft.
- Remove from the oven and let cookies finish cooking on the hot pan.
Notes
Chill the dough for 20-30 minutes for thicker cookies or overnight for deeper flavor. If cookies look underbaked, they will firm up on the pan after removal.
