Description

A delightful dessert combining natural sweetness of berries with a crunchy topping, easy to prepare with frozen berries, and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups mixed frozen berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice (fresh)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup cold butter (cubed)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking dish by greasing it lightly.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the frozen berries with granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, ½ tsp cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the old-fashioned oats, flour, brown sugar, cubed cold butter, ½ tsp cinnamon, and ¼ tsp salt. Use your hands to mix until crumbly.
  4. Spread the berry mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Then, sprinkle the oat topping over the berries.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the berries are bubbling around the edges.
  6. Allow it to cool before serving to enhance the flavors.

Notes

Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
