Description

Delicious sliders featuring Italian sausage, sweet bell peppers, and melted cheese on soft Hawaiian rolls, perfect for gatherings or casual dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian Sausage links with casings removed, or bulk ground sausage
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 large Green Bell Pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 large Red Bell Pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
  • Salt and Black Pepper, to taste
  • 1 package 12 count Sweet Hawaiian Rolls
  • 6 to 8 slices Provolone Cheese or shredded Mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup Salted Butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Dried Italian Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp Grated Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the Italian sausage, breaking it into small crumbles. Remove the sausage and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add olive oil, peppers, and onions. Sauté for 7-10 minutes until the veggies are tender. Add garlic and oregano for the last minute.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350F (180C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom half on the sheet.
  5. Layer provolone cheese, cooked sausage, sautéed veggies, and more cheese on top. Then place the top half of the rolls.
  6. Mix melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning together in a bowl. Brush this mixture onto the rolls and sprinkle with Parmesan.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  8. Let the sliders rest for a few minutes, slice them, and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Use bulk sausage for easier cooking or links for a juicier bite. Feel free to mix up the peppers and add crushed red pepper flakes for heat. For a vegetarian version, substitute with sautéed mushrooms or a meat alternative.
