Description
Delicious sliders featuring Italian sausage, sweet bell peppers, and melted cheese on soft Hawaiian rolls, perfect for gatherings or casual dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Italian Sausage links with casings removed, or bulk ground sausage
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 large Green Bell Pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 large Red Bell Pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 medium Yellow Onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
- Salt and Black Pepper, to taste
- 1 package 12 count Sweet Hawaiian Rolls
- 6 to 8 slices Provolone Cheese or shredded Mozzarella
- 1/4 cup Salted Butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Dried Italian Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp Grated Parmesan Cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the Italian sausage, breaking it into small crumbles. Remove the sausage and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add olive oil, peppers, and onions. Sauté for 7-10 minutes until the veggies are tender. Add garlic and oregano for the last minute.
- Preheat the oven to 350F (180C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom half on the sheet.
- Layer provolone cheese, cooked sausage, sautéed veggies, and more cheese on top. Then place the top half of the rolls.
- Mix melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning together in a bowl. Brush this mixture onto the rolls and sprinkle with Parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let the sliders rest for a few minutes, slice them, and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
Use bulk sausage for easier cooking or links for a juicier bite. Feel free to mix up the peppers and add crushed red pepper flakes for heat. For a vegetarian version, substitute with sautéed mushrooms or a meat alternative.
