Description

Delightful sugar cookies decorated with green fondant and charming clover shapes, perfect for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (plus extra for rolling)
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 70 grams green fondant (between 2 to 4 ounces)
  • Red decorating icing

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Using an electric mixer, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and egg until creamy.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a batter forms.
  4. Roll the batter into a ball, wrap in plastic, and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Dust a clean surface with flour and roll out the cookie dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Use a cookie cutter to cut out clover shapes and place them on the lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Roll out the green fondant to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out fondant clovers and press one on each cookie.
  10. Use red frosting to pipe a small heart on each cookie.

Notes

Make sure the butter is softened but not melted for a better texture. Chill the dough longer if it’s too sticky to roll out. Use a sharp cookie cutter for clean edges.
