Description
Delightful sugar cookies decorated with green fondant and charming clover shapes, perfect for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (plus extra for rolling)
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- Pinch salt
- 1/4 cup butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 70 grams green fondant (between 2 to 4 ounces)
- Red decorating icing
Instructions
- In a small bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Using an electric mixer, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and egg until creamy.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a batter forms.
- Roll the batter into a ball, wrap in plastic, and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Dust a clean surface with flour and roll out the cookie dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut out clover shapes and place them on the lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Roll out the green fondant to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out fondant clovers and press one on each cookie.
- Use red frosting to pipe a small heart on each cookie.
Notes
Make sure the butter is softened but not melted for a better texture. Chill the dough longer if it’s too sticky to roll out. Use a sharp cookie cutter for clean edges.
