Description

A sweet, simple cookie for sharing with someone you love, buttery, cut into shapes, and dipped in dark or white chocolate.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 1/4 cups (295 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (170 g) dark chocolate melting wafers
  • 1 cup (170 g) white chocolate melting wafers
  • Nonpareils for decoration


Instructions

  1. Combine butter and sugar in a bowl and beat until well-creamed.
  2. Stir in vanilla extract and salt.
  3. Add egg yolk and beat until combined.
  4. Gradually add flour until incorporated.
  5. Form the dough into a ball, flatten into a disk, and chill for 15 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350F (175C) and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut out shapes.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges turn lightly golden brown.
  9. Allow cookies to cool completely.
  10. Melt dark and white chocolate according to package instructions.
  11. Dip cookies in chocolate and sprinkle with nonpareils.
  12. Allow chocolate to harden before serving.

Notes

Keep cookies in an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze unglazed cookies for up to 2 months.
