- 1/2 lb mortadella, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil (canola or vegetable)
- 3 slices white American cheese (or Provolone)
- 1 regular kaiser bun
- 1 tablespoon mayo
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
- Heat up a cast iron or flat top skillet on high. Divide the mortadella into three piles, clumping and folding each piece.
- Add the oil to the hot skillet and place the mortadella stacks on top, letting them brown for about a minute.
- Flip each pile and add a slice of cheese on top, allowing it to melt and hold the meats together.
- Toast the kaiser bun in the pan, moving it around to soak up the oil.
- Assemble the sandwich: smear mayo on the bottom bun, stack the meat and cheese, then add mustard to the top bun before closing.
